Funeral service will be Wednesday in the Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley with the Rev. Jeff Giles officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Ashley. Pallbearers will be Michael McElhany, Michele Palm, William McElhany, Thomas McElhany and Kyle McElhany.
Visitation will be in the Carlsen Funeral Home at Ashley.
William W. Pfeifle, the son of John and Katherine (Sayler) Pfeifle was born Oct. 28, 1917, on the family homestead northeast of Venturia. He attended country school and worked on the family farm. In 1938, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in western North Dakota. He then returned to the family farm.
He married Olga Jundt Jan. 7, 1940, in Salem Lutheran Church near Leola, S.D. They farmed on their own farm near the Pfeifle homestead. They worked side by side raising small grains and livestock. In 1965, they moved into Ashley, but continued to farm, retiring in 1974. In April of 2005, they moved to Parkside in Aberdeen and in December of 2007, they entered the Jenkins Living Center in Watertown.
He enjoyed doing crafts and making things from wood such as toys and furniture. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley.
Survivors include his wife Olga of Watertown; one daughter, Donna (Dale) McElhany of Watertown; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
