Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Albina (Ochal) Wood.
Ed was a proud Vietnam Veteran, and served in the United States Navy as a crew member aboard the USS Henry W. Tucker. He eventually settled down in Tobyhanna where he was a "jack-of-all-trades". Ed ultimately made his living as a real estate investor, but had several career interests along the way which included being a contractor, home inspector, fugitive recovery agent, and video game repairman/owner, just to name a few. Some of Ed's hobbies included, flying planes, cars, trains, and hunting ghosts. He was an avid animal lover and well respected community member.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Wood and her husband Michael Stefanowicz of Levittown, New York; his fiancé Betty Estrada of Tobyhanna; and grandchildren Summer Ivy and Noah Winter Wood-Stefanowicz; niece, Dawn Giarramita; nephew Joseph Siegel; great-nieces and nephews Nicole & Scott Tropeano and Jessica & Joseph Siegel. He was predeceased by one sister, Marion Wood and great-nephew James Tropeano.
There will be a viewing from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Blessing Service at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home followed by Military Honors. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
