Della was born on February 19, 1927 in Epping, North Dakota to John and Laura (Apps) Geiger. She lived in North Dakota through much of her childhood years until work on the railroad brought her family to Braham, Minnesota. She graduated from Braham High School in 1945. She married Richard Heald in January 1947 and lived in Ogilvie until 2003 when she and Richard moved to Northome, Minnesota. She was a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed working at JJ Caf� for 18 years. She loved cooking, gardening and she loved to talk and give advise to her two grandchildren. She always remembered St. Patrick’s Day and would light a candle. She enjoyed sports – loved to watch pro football and baseball, college basketball, and hometown softball and baseball teams. Wootsie was her favorite pet although she had many pets throughout the years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ogilvie and an honorary member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a Bible and Sunday School teacher.
Della was preceded in death by her son Douglas Heald; her father John Geiger; her mother Laura Handy; her stepfather Mark Handy; brother Al Geiger; sisters Dorothy Murchie, Faye Schmit, and Roxanne Erbstoesser.
She is survived by her husband Richard Heald; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Gail Heald all of Northome, MN; grandson Jason (Tara) Heald of Woodbury, MN; granddaughter Jamie (Robert) Rosson of Bemidji, MN; great-grandchildren Hunter Heald, Nolan Heald and Abigail Rosson; plus many nieces and nephews.
