Carl E. Price, 80, of Sparta peacefully passed away watching his favorite St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, August 16, 2019 in Springfield.

Carl was born on December 30, 1938 in Lawrenceville, IL. He married Vera L. Gibbs on September 13th, 1958 in Davisville, MO, and they shared nearly 61 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: three children: Bruce T. Price of O’Fallon, MO, Brian D. Price of Ozark, MO, and Valerie L. Kierpa of Alpharetta, GA. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Daniel Price, Olivia Price, Grant Kierpa, and Lauren Kierpa.

Carl received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from SIU-Carbondale in 1972. He worked as an accountant and then became a chief financial officer until retirement. Carl was a deacon in Baptist churches for most of his life. He was also very active in volunteer work after retirement. He played softball, basketball, and golfed into his 60’s.

A funeral will be held for Carl at 2:00pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark. Pastor Wayne Ferry will officiate. Burial will follow at Selmore Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
