Ruth Janette Johnson Todd, 80, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Wheeling Hospital.
She was born January 4, 1939, in Island, KY, daughter of the late Ewing L. Johnson and Mabel Phelps Johnson Sadler.
Ruth retired as a machine operator from Swisher International, Wheeling, WV after 35 years of service. She loved to bowl and belonged to the Elm Grove Bowling League. She was a collector of mail pouch items with the group Barnstormers, who would meet once a year.
She loved traveling, walking and her dogs. Ruth was very family oriented and always put others first. She was a Methodist by faith
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ewing L. Johnson, Jr. and Eugene Johnson.
Ruth is survived by her two children, daughter, Teresa (Paul) Sprouse of Bellaire, OH and son, John M. (Michelle) Durdines of Wheeling, WV; fiancé, Donald Harvey of Wheeling, WV; three grandchildren, Damien B. (Amanda) Clouse of Charleston, SC, and Anastasia (Zak) Klemm and Ashley Durdines both of Wheeling, WV; a great-grandson, Trevor Lee Clouse; many half brothers & half sisters, including Kathleen Postlewait; and several nieces & nephews.
Friends will be received on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 4-8 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV (304-232-2732) where services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 11 AM with Rev. Margie Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
