Ray Staats, 77, of rural Beason, a retired farmer, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home after a long illness.

His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Fricke Memorial Home with the Rev. Robert S. Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery near Beason.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home where Masonic rites will be accorded at 8 tonight.

Mr. Staats was born April 22, 1890, at Cisco, a son of John P. and Permelia Musick Staats. He married Susanna Irwin, July 8, 1922, at Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Lyle Staats, rural Beason; a daughter, Mrs. "Roberta" Staats, of Emden, and three grandchildren.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge, Commandery 51, Knights Templar, and Ansar Shrine.

Prior to retiring in 1953, he had been active in the Logan County Farm Bureau and the Logan Farm Service Co.
