Janet Lea Roberts - age 57 of Smithville, MO passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, August 15th, 2019 at her home. Janet was born on August 20th, 1961 to Lee Roy and Peggy Ann (Phillips) Roberts in Independence, MO. She was a 1979 graduate of Polo High School. Janet worked at General Motors for over 20 years and was currently a team leader. She was a member of the UAW local #31. Janet was very dedicated to her kids and grandkids. She was always happy, never met a stranger and always went with the flow. Janet loved her dogs, Max and Chloe. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, cooking, going to the movies, and spending time on her pontoon at Smithville Lake. Janet will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Ms. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to celebrate her life and mourn her passing include: fiancé, Joseph Hilden of Smithville; son, Jason Cline of Smithville; daughter, Peggy (Matthew) Powell of Kansas City; sister, Sandy (Donald) Burns of Smithville; brother, David (Bonnie) Roberts of Kingston; grandsons: Gage, Tyler and Kameron; granddaughters: Kirsten and Kaitlynne; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
