Mr. Versace worked at CT Natural Gas formerly Greenwich Gas Company for 40 years until his retirement in 1996.
He was member of the Cummings Boat Club and Richmond Hill Park Republican Club. He was also a Veteran of the Korean war serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria A. Pangia Versace of Stamford; two sons, Daniel J. Versace of Atlanta, GA and Michael P. Versace of Stamford; a grandson, Kevin M. Versace; one brother, Andrew Versace of Cos Cob; and three sisters Emma and her husband Eugene Pangia of Ridgefield, Frances and her husband Samuel Judice of Riverside and Mary and her husband John Mansy of Norwalk; and a sister in law, Isabelle Versace from New York. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Versace was pre-deceased by one brother, Salvatore Versace.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 9:20 AM and proceed to St. Mary's RC Church, 566 Elm Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, December 16, 2005 between the hours of 4 -8 PM.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to the charity of one's choice.
