Sandra Lou (Stapert) Hawkins was born on December 29, 1938 in Danville, Indiana, the sixth child of Marcus Jacob and Helen Louise (Knight) Stapert.

Sandra graduated from Martinsville High School in 1957. She was employed by Kroger Bakery in Indianapolis for over twenty plus years and recently retired in 2018. She enjoyed traveling and eating at the Golden Coral restaurant. Sandra was a member of the New Life in Christ Church in Mooresville, Indiana.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Raymond Hawkins; parents, Marcus and Helen Stapert; brother, Robert. She is survived by daughter, Diana Bryant and Donald Freels; step-daughter, Susan Atkins (husband) Steve;, grandchildren, Ashley Hartman, Lauren Jordan, Nathan Bryant, Samantha Freels, Vicki Freels, Annie Freels; brothers, Richard, Ronald (Marcia), Raymond (Joan); sisters, Shirley Hyatt and Barbara Crosby.

A graveside services will take place 11:00 a.m. August 23, 2019 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood.
