Jack Edward Vance, age 82, of Oak Hill, WV formerly of Shady Spring, WV. passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Charleston Area Medical Center General Division.
Born on September 3, 1936 at Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Ray Preston Vance and Eva Suzanne Cox Vance.
Mr. Vance was a retired coal mine electrician, and attended Cranberry Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran, the UMWA, and the AF&AM Masonic Lodge in Georgia. Mr. Vance attended Beckley College, and enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle when health permitted.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Carolene Vance, second wife Neola Kaylor Vance, and a brother Ray Preston Vance Jr.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children: Debbie Semenske and husband Charles of Stanaford, and Jack Edward Vance Jr.(and his former wife Sandra Kay Vance) of Oak Hill; a brother, Bill Vance and wife Kyra of Cranberry; four grandchildren, Kimberly Runyon of Stanaford, Chuck Semenske and wife Hillary of Lake Norman, NC, Stacy Cannon and husband Ashley of Lynchburg, VA, and Jason Vance and wife Kimberly of Beckley; nine great grandchildren, Brandon Runyon, Chad Runyon and wife Shawna, Payten, Kendall, and Abigail Semenske, Cooper and Lindyn Cannon, and Reagan and Rhett Vance; and one great-great grandchild, Maxwell Cafarelli. A step daughter Debbie Lacek and husband Larry of Daniels, several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberrry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Monday August 19, 2019 at 2 PM with Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
