Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church in Canaan. Rev. Randy Hehr, Rev. Rod Asher, and Lynn Rogers will officiate. Interment will follow at Canaan Cemetery in Canaan. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2019, at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the church. Canaan Masonic Lodge No. 581 F.&A.M. will conduct services Friday, August 23, 2019, at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Rogers graduated from Central High School in 1943 and from Hanover College in 1950 majoring in chemistry and zoology. He owned and operated the Canaan Cupboard General Store in Canaan for 25 years. Mr. Rogers was also a medical technologist for Madison State Hospital, Muscatatuck Hospital, and King's Daughters' Hospital. He was a member of the Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church, Canaan Masonic Lodge No. 581 F.&A.M., Jefferson Coun-ty Historical Society, Jefferson County Genealogical Society, Historical Madison Inc., Sons of the American Revolution and Canaan Restoration Council. He enjoyed people, genealogy and history.
Born January 24, 1925, Mr. Rogers was the son of Ernest E. and Lena E. Green Rogers. He married Neida J. Gardner at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church July 21, 1946. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughters, Cheryl (David) King and Rebecca Smitha, both of Madison, Pamela (Randy) Rogers-Hehr of Largo, Florida, and Stephanie (Doug) Spicer of Crothersville; son, Charles (Marie) Rogers of Canaan; grandchildren, Melissa (Tom) Newcomb, Jeremy and Joshua Miller, lane, Ben (Brian Thompson), and Toby Rogers, Tim and Christina Rogers-hehr, Miranda (Bob) Adams, Tyler and Kelsey Smitha, Casey (Jessica Garvey) Stanford, Christopher (Patricia) Hurt, and Michele (Jeff) Woods; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lynn (Darlene) Rogers of Dayton, Ohio.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by a brother, Randall L. Rogers.
