Minor Demerle Hewett, 87, died August 15, 2019. In addition to his parents, Covington Hewett and Ethel Hewett Hewett, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Hewett. Minor truly had a servant’s heart and a gentle soul. He was a founding member and longtime volunteer of the Shallotte Volunteer Rescue Squad. He is remembered for his concern and helpfulness to anyone in need. In his younger years Minor worked on a dredge boat. He later retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Surviving are his son, Timmy Hewett (Debbie Bowers); daughter, Patti Hewett (Crystal Baker); grandchildren, Carter Hewett, Griffin Hewett, and Jessica Gruber; Very special friend, Betty Clemmons; Sisters-in-laws, Cindy Evans and Florence Evans; special niece, Jane Evans; and special friends Linda and Maurice Galloway and Priscilla Andrews.

A service honoring his life will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, at United Vision Church. The family will receive friends at 10 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
