Mrs. Arthur Stringer, Mother Os Television Personality Here

Mrs. Arthur C. Stringer, 59, mother of Tippy Stringer, WRC television personality, died yesterday after an illness of several months.

Mrs. Srtinger was the widow of an executive of the National Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters. She and her husband made their home for many years at 5132 Bradley boulevard, Chevy Chase, Md., before his death in 1954. Since then, she had been a registrar for the John Robert Powers charm school until her illness.

The Stringers came to Washington in 1939 from Evanston, Ill. Both Mr. and Mrs. Stringer were graduated from the University of Chicago.

The former Frances Sugg, Mrs. Stringer was a native of Dyersburg, Tenn., and attended elementary and high schools there. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Besides her daughter Tippy, whose full name is Lewis Tipton Stringer, Mrs. Stringer is survived by a son, Arthur C. Stringer of Blair Television Associates in Chicago, and a granddaughter.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Robert A. Pumphrey funeral home, 7557 Wisconsin avenue, Bethesda. Burial will be in Parklawn Cemetery.
