Mrs. Clara Jean Morgan, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome.

Born in Whitfield County, Georgia on June 10, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Mrs. Pauline Raines. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Morgan; her sister, Janie Roach; her brother, Donald Cheek; and her grandchildren, Kevin Haygood, and Theresa Jane Dupree.

Mrs. Morgan was truly a remarkable woman who loved her church, her family, her friends, and loved to sing praises and tell others of God’s word. She was a Sunday School teacher, an avid reader, and loved to crochet and sew. Mrs. Morgan retired from Cartersville Hospital after fifteen years of working in labor, delivery, and the nursery. She helped deliver many babies in Bartow County, including several of her grandchildren. At the time of her passing she was a member of Gateway Church.

Survivors include her sister, Margaret Rash; her sons, Bill Morgan, John Morgan, and Tom Morgan; her daughters, Barbara Dupree, Judy Clark, Sarah Nelson (Scott), and Mary Ann Haygood; her grandchildren, Sherry Abernathy Crawley (Jason), Robert Abernathy, Jr. (Melissa), Rebecca Abernathy, Phillip Abernathy, Jennifer Dupree, David Dupree, Scotty Ham, Jeremy Nelson, Heather Nelson, Trey Nelson, Adam Haygood, Holly Haygood, J.P. Morgan, Marlene Brock, Autumn Morgan, Melody Morgan, David Morgan, Jr., Alfred Dupree, Jr. (Linda), and Amy Adams (Billy); thirty-four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mrs. Jo Babb.

Mrs. Morgan’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Emerson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the funeral home.
