Jerry Lee “Big Jerry” Lovell, 74, of Kinta passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Gore Nursing Center. He was born December 24, 1944 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Grady Lee and Virgie May (Longcrier) Lovell. He grew up at Dog Creek Community and graduated from Panama High School. He served his country in the United States Army for two years in Vietnam. He married Carolyn Treadway and they were married for 36 years and made their home in Kinta. Early in his life he was a logger and worked for Sampson Resources. Later he worked for the U.S. Army Depot in McAlester and retired after ten years. He loved riding mules, coon hunting and hog hunting. He enjoyed going to dances and listening to music. Most of all he loved his family.
Jerry is survived by his three sons & their spouses, Jerry & Carol Lovell of McCurtain, Kendall Lovell of Kinta and Kelly & Angela Lovell of Kinta; his seven grandchildren, Emily & Jed Williams, Casey & Steven Monroe, Keagan & Chase Gibson, Jacob Lovell, Dylan & Krysten Lovell, Maddison Lovell, Montana Lovell; 3 great-grandchildren, Rylee, Ridge and Dally; three brothers, Ray Lovell of McCurtain, Jim Lovell of Dog Creek, Jack & Cathy Lovell of McCurtain; three sisters, Judy & Tom Duncan of Sallisaw, Joyce & Ron Wear Ron of Sallisaw and Frances Didway of Shady Point.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Grady & Virgie Lovell; a nephew, Terry May.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 16, 2019 at the McCurtain Assembly of God with Reverend Heath Eldridge officiating. Pallbearers include Steven Monroe, Jed Williams, Jake Lovell, Chase Gibson, Tommy Ford, O.J. Foutch. Honorary Pallbearers include Jerry Stevens, Tom Duncan, Ron Wear, Burl Lovell, Clifford Treadway, Wayne Warren.
Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
