Stephen "Steve" Patterson was the son of Thomas and Twila (Wolfe) Patterson. He had an older brother, Thomas, Jr., and a younger brother, Dana.

In his senior high school yearbook quote, Steve remarked that he hoped to move down to Florida after graduation.

He made that dream a reality and moved to Brevard County, FL where his aunt, uncle, and cousins lived. Steve graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Psychology. After college, he was employed at Patrick Air Force Base in a civil service job. He initially lived in Cocoa and moved to Merritt Island over 20 years ago, until his death.

Like his mother, Steve made it a point to never forget a friend's or family member's birthday by contacting them with a phone call, card, or e-mail. He loved visiting the Florida Keys, watching SciFi movies, and was a huge fan of Notre Dame's football and ice hockey teams, as well as Boston Celtics basketball.

Steve treasured friendships and family. He will be missed.
