Son of George and Hannah Varnum. Husband of Sarah (Langton) Varnum. (All of which are still 'burial unknown'.)

Samuel emigrated from Lilbourne Parish, Northamptonshire, England in 1635 with his parents and his sister, Hannah.

He and Sarah wed about 1645.

Children:
(b. in Ipswich, MA)
Abraham, Oct. 28, 1659 - Apr. 3, 1659
Hannah, May 22, 1661 -
Thomas, Nov. 19, 1662 - Sep. 7, 1739
(b. in Chelmsford, MA)
John, Oct. 15, 1669 - Feb. 23, 1715
Joseph, Mar. 15, 1672-3 - Dec. 23, 1749

It appears there may have been 2 more children: George and Samuel Jr. I have not found birth information in the Vital Records as of yet. Found this reference to them "On the morning of March 18, 1676, Samuel, George, Samuel Jr., and Hannah were rowing to the north side of Merrimack River to milk the cows, when they were fired upon by Indians. George and Samuel Jr. were killed and fell back into Hannah's lap."

Note: received via SAC that he died "Sept. 25, 1698, in Dracut, MA", however, this information is not in the Dracut, Vital Records. Per Dracut, VR, deaths, pg 300 "Varnum, Samuel, abt. 1698. GR2"

GR2 = abbrev. for Woodbine Cemetery and what is on the headstone, not necessarily that he died here.
