Jean Carolyn Crowder Pope 71, of Henderson, NC died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
Born in Mecklenburg County, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Harrison Crowder and Lillian Hutson Crowder.
Mrs. Pope was retired from Central Regional Hospital where she was an assistant supervisor in the Lab. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Henderson, where she assisted each year with Vacation Bible School.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Gene Wood. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are her husband of fifty years, Kenneth W. Pope; a daughter, Jennifer P. Burton; two grandchildren that loved their “Granny Machee”, Jacob Edward Burton, and Bryson Lewis Burton; two sisters, Nannie Wheeler (Ronnie) and Hurley Reams (Joe); two brothers, David Crowder, and Norman Crowder (Becky). She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Crowder, Daniel Crowder, Lewis Crowder, and Curley Crowder.
The family will receive friends Thursday, from 1:00-2:00 pm. at Calvary Baptist Church. All other times, they will be at her home.
Serving as pall bearers will be Charles Jones, Ron Wheeler, Charlie Evans, John Taylor, Billy Overton, Tony Allen, and Bobby Roberson.
Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to the Henderson Family Y.M.C. A., “Silver Sneakers” 380 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27536.
