Charles W. Buckner, 80, of Morganton died Sunday, August 11, 2019. Born in Burnsville, NC on October 17, 1938, he was the son of the late Jake F. Buckner and Esther Windle Buckner.

Charles was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

He retired as director of the Burke County Health Department and was an integral part of the Habitat for Humanity Wednesday Warriors. Other loves included running and spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Goins Buckner; and siblings, Max Buckner, David Buckner, and Nancy Styles.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
