John T. Capps, world traveler, age 73, died Saturday, August 10, 2019, of complications from Parkinson’s disease. John was born July 30, 1946, in Conroe, Texas.

He attended the University of Texas at Austin graduating with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Shortly after graduating he married Jenny, the joy in his life for 48 years.

His career in the oil and gas industry lasted 40 years, during which time he traveled the world sharing an adventurous life with his family. He suffered the symptoms of Parkinson’s for far too long, but never lost his sense of humor.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Hill; his children, Jason (Shelly) and Yvette (Derek); his four grandchildren Andrew, Eliot, Payton, and Harrison; and his sister, Patricia Ann Rather.

A short graveside burial will be held at Copeland Chapel Cemetery at 10:00 am August 24, 2019. A memorial service will be held immediately afterwards at 11:00 am at Metcalf Funeral Home, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas 77304.
