Herman Creighton Ridings, 63, retired contractor of Page Road, died at 3:45 p.m. yesterday in Baptist hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday at Bracey-Welsh funeral home, 2407 West End Ave., with the Rev. Floyd Huckaba and the Rev. R. Travis Otey officiating. The body is at the funeral home.

Mr. Ridings was born in McEwen, Tenn., the son of Robert Fulton and Minnie Davis Ridings. He married the former Miss Louise Diamond in 1915. She survives.

He moved to Nashville some 40 years ago when he entered the contracting business. He was a member of Brook Hollow Baptist Church and West Nashville Masonic Lodge.

He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Smith and Mrs. Louise R. Chamberlain, both of Nashville; a sister, Mrs. Hettie Riggan, Savannah, Tenn.; six brothers, Jessie B. Ridings, Coco Beach, Fla., James Ridings, Owensboro, Ky., Howell and D. C. Ridings, Miami, Fla., John Ridings, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Hugh Ridings, Frazier, Col.; and one grandson.
