JoAnn was born in Selma, Alabama on September 15, 1949. She was the daughter of Ella McCondichie and Charles King.

JoAnn joined the United States Navy in 1969. Upon completion of her tour of duty she attended Temple University earning a Bachelor’s degree in social work and a Master’s degree in Social Work administration.

JoAnn worked for thirty years serving children and families. She was employed with Crossroads Programs Inc. as a Program Director for sixteen years. She developed numerous programs to assist adolescence with transition into adulthood. She was CEO of Families Finding Hope a nonprofit organization for families dealing with mental illness. JoAnn also worked for Kennedy Hospital as an addiction counselor for teens.

JoAnn served on numerous committees and Board of Directors throughout Burlington County, N.J. She has given leadership to state wide organizations. She has served on local and national boards. JoAnn was faculty with several Universities. She mentored countless students.

JoAnn was a member of the Browns Mills United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, family and friends.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 9:30am until 10:30am at the Browns Mills United Methodist Church, 2 Pemberton-Browns Mills Rd. Browns Mills, N.J. 08015. A memorial service will follow at the church.
