Jerry Leon Carroll age 84 of Baker passed away on Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born in Andalusia, AL on December 13, 1934 to Clyde and Opal Carroll. Jerry left home at an early age and entered the United States Navy. He worked as a Hospital Corpsman and reached the rank of Master Chief. After serving in many different ports he retired with 23 years of service. Jerry then went to work at North Okaloosa Medical Center where he worked as Radiology Director for 13 years before retiring. Jerry loved his family and he dedicated his life to the Masons and Shriners serving for many years. He was the past Potentate of the Hadji Shrine in 2002 and past Master of Mt. Ewell Lodge in Baker. Jerry was also a dual member of Concord Masonic Lodge in Crestview. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Madison, Clydie and Charles Carroll.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years Kathy Carroll; daughters: Sheila Carroll and husband Terry Raby and Terry Lynn Battaglia. Brothers Raleigh Carroll and Ernest Carroll and wife Tody; sister Mary Helen Etheridge. Jerry has 2 granddaughters: Lauren Battaglia and Lyla Arrick and husband Cody; and 2 great granddaughters: Rylea and Finnley. Jerry is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.

The celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Wednesday August 7th, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jerry’s memory to the Hadji Shriner’s Transportation Fund. The family would like to say a special thank you to the entire staff of Crestview Rehab Center for their compassionate and loving care they showed for Jerry.
