Gregg James Taylor, 40, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 6th at his home in Danbury, CT.
Gregg was born on October 20, 1978 in Danbury, CT to the late Jeffrey and Cathleen (Durkin) Taylor.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Chris and Karen Taylor of New Fairfield, his nephews Brayden, Blake, and Brody, his grandmother Jeanne Durkin of Danbury, his aunts and uncles Maureen & Larry Gardner of New Jersey, and Jeannie & Bob Sweeney of Danbury, many cousins, and countless friends, many of whom were his family.

He recently suffered the loss of his father, Jeff. He is also predeceased by his mother Cathleen, his grandparents George & Gudrun Taylor and James Durkin, his uncles George and Gordon Taylor, and his aunt Rosemary Manacek.

Gregg graduated from Danbury High School in 1997, Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Connecticut State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Fordham University. In 1998, Gregg joined the Army Reserves and later transferred to the CT Army National Guard in 2000 to become a Combat Engineer. Specialist Gregg Taylor served honorably, including a combat tour in Afghanistan in the 102nd Infantry Division in 2006-2007 until being honorably discharged in late 2007.

Gregg was known throughout the Danbury area as your talented, silly, funny, and friendly neighborhood bartender at Rosy Tomorrow’s. As a full time substitute teacher, primarily with the Junior ROTC program, he carried on his mother's legacy of education in the Danbury Public Schools.
Gregg took great joy in making everyone laugh. His life is filled with countless episodes typically seen in a comedy movie. Gregg was known as a giving person, whether it be for his childhood friends, Sigma Chi Fraternity Brothers, fellow combat veterans through the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), or the JROTC students he worked with in the Danbury Schools. He loved spending time with his dog Yogi, and watching his beloved Yankees with his father.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside burial with military honors will take place at 12:30pm on Friday, August 16, 2019 at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Section 14, Danbury.
