Louis J. "Sonny" Abben (1935-2014)
Waterloo, Iowa, Courier, WASHBURN -- Louis John "Sonny" Abben, 78, of Mineola, Texas, formerly of Washburn, died Friday, Oct. 10, in Eden Prairie, Minn.
He was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Waterloo, son of Gephard and Louise Busker Abben. He married Marilyn Wheeler on Jan. 12, 1957, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua; she preceded him in death.
Louis worked at Rath Feed and John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. He also was a mechanic.
Survived by: two daughters, Cynthia Abben and Luanne (John) Haasis, both of Waverly; two sisters, Pat (Wayne) Daniels of Waterloo and Marge Werner of Eden Prairie; and special friend, Donna Stahl of Cedar Falls.
Preceded in death by: his parents; and an extra daughter, Johnnette Hrabovsky Damme.
Services: noon Saturday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. --Louis had a good time with his East Waterloo High School 1954 classmates and then died a few days later. The last thing he said to a classmate was "Stay in touch!"
