Funeral. -- The funeral of Mr. J. Philipp Baumann, who died Saturday afternoon, March 19, after a short but severe illness, took place yesterday morning at 8:30 a. m. at his home, No. 42 (old), Monroe Street, to the 14 Saints Church on the corner of Mount and Pratt Street, where Father Meinrad celebrated a Requiem for the soul of the deceased, and the church choir under organ accompaniment by Prof. K. Janson sang a funeral mass. After the body was blessed and the "Libera" was sung, the funeral procession set off for Bonnie Brae Cemetery, where the coffin, richly adorned with flowers and wreaths, was temporarily buried in the crypt. Pallbearers were Messrs. Anton Schalitzky, Heinr. Rosendale, J. Heinemann, Frank Müller, August Klott and Johann Schalitzky.
The deceased was born on January 25, 1837 at Heidelsheim in Baden, moved to Baltimore with his parents in 1853, and married his surviving wife, Marie, in 1862. The marriage remained childless, and besides his widow, there are four sisters here and one brother in Germany mourning their loss.
