James Charles Duddleston, 50, of Grand Chenier passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 in West Jefferson Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans. James was born in Lake Charles, La. on June 23, 1967, the son of Glenn and the late Virginia Duddleston. He lived in Cameron as a young boy then moved to Grand Chenier where he currently resided.

James is survived by his son, Garrett Duddleston, father, Glenn Duddleston, his brother, Steve “Doodie” Duddleston and his fiancee, Lisa Dyson, his grandmother, Dorothy Duddleston, his nieces, Jillian Wilson and her husband Hunter and Jenna Duddleston, great nephews, Blade, Jagger, and Colton, his fiancée,Tonya Mott, and the mother of his only son, Shanna Nunez.

He graduated from South Cameron High School in 1985. He was an outstanding athlete. He attended McNeese State University. James was a land surveyor for over 30 years mentoring many young men in his occupation. There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe who James was, what he stood for, and how much he loved his son, “Boss Man” and his entire family. James was a passionate Dallas Cowboy fan. His family and friends enjoyed spending time with him in Grand Chenier eating Pa James’ boiled crabs and crawfish. James was such a great guy, always greeted everyone with a handshake or hug, warm smile and a big hello. His son, Garrett, sums it up the best by saying …”Dad was the greatest father any son could ask for. He loved everybody. He would do anything for a total stranger. He taught me to stay humble and always help someone even if they couldn’t help you in return. To just live life with a smile and pull for them Cowboys!”

He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia (Ginny) Duddleston, grandparents, Charles Duddleston, Jr., G.C. and Mary Sweeney, uncles, James (Jim) and Marvin Duddleston.

His visitation will be Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a rosary at 6:00pm and resume Friday at 9:00am until time of services at Hixson Funeral Homes of Lake Charles. Funeral Services will Friday at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
