2 Princeton boys die
in farm truck mishap

PRINCETON, Ky. -- A truck carrying two boys riding atop a water tank overturned Friday night, killing both of them, state police at Madisonville said.

Christopher Garland Kirk, 6, and Samuel Lee Werstein, 9, both of Princeton, we're pronounced dead at the accident scene, on Wayne White's farm about seven miles east of Princeton, by Caldwell County Coroner Rick Morgan, police said.

The boys were riding on a 1,000-gallon tank on the back of the truck at about 6:30 p.m. when one of the truck's wheels hit a sinkhole, police said. The jolt caused the truck to overturn and the tank to fall on the boys, police reported. Police said the driver's name was unavailable.

Christopher Kirk is survived byhis parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Kirk of Princeton; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Garland Hart of Caldwell County; paternal grandmother Mrs. Doshia Brummett of Princeton; paternal grandfather Ode Kirk of Mackinaw, Ill.; maternal great-grandmother Mrs. Verdie Cravens of Hopkinsville; maternal great-grandfatner Richard Hart of Princeton; and a brother, Aaron Paul Kirk of Princeton.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. todav at Morgan Funeral Home with the Revs. Franklin Skaggs and Wade Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery here.

Services for Samuel Werstein will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Tichenor officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home after 2 p.m. today.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Werstein of Princeton; paternal grandfather Sam Werstein of Caldwell County; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Scott of Caldwell County; and a sister, Jennifer Werstein of Princeton.
