She was graduated from UAM in 1978, and taught 6-8th grade math, pre-algebra, and algebra for 27 years.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruce Young, three brothers Billy, Carl, and Jake; four sisters Minnie, Melva, Ruth, and Trish.
She is survived by her children Mark Young (Brenda) of Stuttgart and Terri Pace of DeWitt; three grandchildren Wayland Young (Rene'e), Hayley Gardner (Shannon), and Gage Lane; two great grandchildren Trinten and Hattie Gardner; one brother Johnny Owens of Gillett; one sister Nola Weinrich of Gillett; and her caregivers Tonya Bell, Kelly James, and Allison Criswell.
Visitation will be 2:00 Sunday, August 11 at Essex Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 3:00. Burial will follow in DeWitt Cemetery.
