Denise was born on May 4, 1955, in Ellwood City to the late Fred and Elizabeth M. (DiCola) Detullio. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1973 and from Slippery Rock University in 1977 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. Most recently she has been working for the Borough of Ellwood City in the electric Ddepartment.
She was a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan, and a longtime member of the Black & Gold Brigade. For several years she volunteered for the local Meals on Wheels program.
Denise will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, devoted sister, friend, aunt and great-aunt, lover of all animals, an amazing cook, and one of the kindest souls on the planet.
She is survived by her son, RJ (Olivia) Thompson of Stowe, VT; her grandson, Barkley Thompson; her brother, Joe (Judi) DeTullio of Ellwood City; and her former husband, Rick Thompson of Nazareth, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Sandra L. DeTullio.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m., at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home in Ellwood City, PA. Interment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
