Walter J. Klaeser, age 83 , of 2262 Knuell St., Manitowoc, died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay.

Memorial service will be held at 1 p.. on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Steven Olson will officiate. Cremation will have taken place.

Walter was born Dec. 29, 1919 in Milwaukee, son of the late John and Olga Giese Klaeser. He attended Bay View High School and graduated with the class of 1937. In 1985 Walter ended his career as principal of the high school he graduated from. Walter served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Roberta Pihl Rasmussen Dec. 18, 1977 at Kingo Lutheran Church, Shorewood. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1999. Walter was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his best friend and beloved wife: Roberta, Manitowoc; proud father of Master Sgt. Robert A. (Angela) Rasmussen, Germany; Lucinda (Richard) Pardo, Chicago, Ill.; proudest grandfather of James (Drea) Carroll, Milwaukee; Thomas Carroll and Ann Carroll, both of Chicago; Andrew Rasmussen and Tanja Rasmussen, both of Germany; loving great-grandfather of Conor Carroll, Milwaukee; one brother Donald Klaeser, St. Francis, Wis.; one sister, Kathryn Hetzel, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Relatives and friends may call at first Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Youth or the Bay View High School Scholarship Fund.

The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family.
