George B. Buchanan Jr., 83, of Danville, passed away at his home on April 8, 2019. Born on December 15, 1935, in Appomattox, he was the son of George and Rosa Buchanan. He grew up working in his father's barber shop, attaining his barber's license. While earning his business degree from Lynchburg College, he supported himself by working as a barber. Upon graduation he moved to Richmond, to work for Mutual of Omaha. There, he met his wife, Sarah, moving to Danville in 1965 to work for his father-in-law's plywood business. He founded Danville Plywood. George was also predeceased by his wife, Sarah J. Buchanan and a grandchild, Ian Buchanan. He is survived by his wife, Bonnae; children, Sally Alexander (Ray), George Buchanan III and Sandy Buchanan (Julie); step-daughter, Courtney Blake; four grandchildren.
