Hazel graduated from Dolliver High School. On January 9, 1955 she was united in marriage to Dale Erickson at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville, Iowa. The couple made their home in Estherville. Hazel worked at Lyon's Bakery and Anderson Bakery. She was employed P.G. Gray in Estherville and then at Berkley’s and Company in Spirit Lake. Hazel was most well known as the Avon Lady for 32 years.
Hazel was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church. She and Dale enjoyed wintering in Texas for many years. The couple also belonged to a motorcycle club.
Hazel is survived by her husband of 64 years Dale of Estherville; her sons Jerry (Donna) Erickson of Terril, Dennis (Kerry) Erickson of Estherville, and Alan (Jody) Erickson of Spirit Lake; her five grandchildren Joseph Erickson, Adam Erickson, Abby Erickson, Lindsay Erickson, and Brooklynn Erickson; and her 3 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Brooklyn, and Alysa. She is also survived by her sister Eunice Lucht of Jackson.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Everett and Lester Hatland, and a sister Artis England.
