Mrs. Nellie Huff Voelker, 76, of 5902 Walnut, founder of Sigma Delta Phi, died yesterday at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Voelker, with her husband, the late Arthur Voelker, founded Sigma Delta Phi, an educational and social sorority for business and professional women in 1961. Mrs. Voelker was national field director for Beta Sigma Phi, a sorority for business women. She was associated with the American Business Women's Association.
She was born in Mexico, Mo., and lived in Kansas City 50 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
She leaves a son, Robert L. Voelker of the home; four grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 Monday at the Stine & McClure chapel; burial in Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests no flowers and suggests contributions to the Arthur and Nellie Voelker Educational Fund of the sorority.
