Kathy was born to Larry Betts and Margaret Wooding, grew up in Cranbrook, BC, and attended Ricks College, University of Calgary, and Brigham Young University. On August 3, 1974, she and Dave were married in Provo, UT. They lived in Los Angeles for bit before moving to Idaho Falls, where they raised their five children and Kathy was able to fulfill her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. Kathy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings in the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women organizations. She enjoyed all of her callings but loved being the librarian most. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, creating crafts of all kinds, and traveling, especially to Hawaii. She loved teaching 4th and 5th grade and even continued to tutor kids after her retirement. She was blessed with a great sense of humor and dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Survivors beside her loving husband included: children Darren (Andrea) Black of Albuquerque, NM, and Kyle (Brandi) Black, Kelli Black, Kari (Dustin May) Black, and Leann (James) Cain, all of Boise, ID; siblings Diane Knight and Gordon Betts both of Cranbrook, BC, and Bill (Jean) Betts of Moosejaw, Saskatchewan; and grandchildren. Services held August 14th at Waterford Ward at 5255 S 5th West. Gary West officiated.
