Jason Wright Shaw, 42, of Spring, Texas, went to be with his Lord on Friday October 13, 2017. This precious man, husband, father, son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, friend, coworker– – –excelled in each of these roles.

Jason is survived by the love of his life, his precious wife Kelly, and their three amazing children, Sorelda, Braddek and Rykkhan; his mom Judy, parents-in-law Lowell and Linda Cochran, half-brother Brian Shaw of Seattle WA, and many cousins, uncles and aunts, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his dad John, grandparents Cy and Hazel Shaw, grandparents Wright and Jude Huddleston and uncle Ellis Huddleston.

Stricken with cancer in March 2017 --- a rare, insidious and aggressive form, Jason fought a courageous battle against this horrific disease with optimism, determination, and most of all with faith. After seven months the cancer won and Jason passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord early Friday morning. May each of us in our own time come to understand how Jason in his prime, wonderful husband and doting father of three young children was taken from us now.

A native Texan, born March 25, 1975 in Brazosport, Texas to John and Judy Huddleston Shaw, Jason spent his first birthday in Texas but celebrated his second birthday in Kuwait, since his father was an engineer in the oil business. By his third birthday he was in Mexico, and then spent his fourth, fifth and sixth in Venezuela. Granny Hazel, John's mother from Arkansas, had many adventuresome stories about visiting her youngest grandchild Jason in these last two exotic locations.

By the middle of his first grade year, Jason and the family had moved to another "foreign country," Ruidoso, a New Mexico oasis with mountains and tall pine trees sitting in the middle of a desert. This is where Jason grew up and formed life-long bonds and friendships. He played football, basketball and golf. He skied White Mountain. And, he graduated Ruidoso High School in 1993, and earned a degree in Marketing from NM State in 1997.

Upon his college graduation, Houston Cellular hired him and moved him to Houston. After a year with them, Jason was lured by his cousin Mike Shaw into the car business which became his passion. He began with Sterling McCall Toyota in 1998 as a car salesman, but quickly moved into Finance, where he thrived for the remainder of his career. Even in the hospital during chemo, any nurse or visitor who would listen could hear a lecture on various aspects of the art of selling and financing cars.

On March 11, 2000, Jason married Kelly Cochran, the love of his life. Kelly says, "Jason always makes me laugh. We are so different, but we complement each other so well. God made Jason for me."

Five years after he started in the car business, in 2003, Gullo Ford in Conroe recruited this young financial superstar as their own Finance Manager, a title he has held for the past 14 years. At Gullo, a place he considered his second home, Jason has been passionately involved in making deals and managing his beloved staff. We thank everyone at Gullo for their caring and support throughout Jason's illness.

The union of Jason and Kelly produced three remarkable and talented children: Sorelda, age 12; Braddek, age 10; and Rykkhan, age 7.

Although he is a season-ticket holder and fan of the Texans, --- Jason's mother Judy confesses he is a life-long Oakland Raiders fan --- primarily because of their Halloween antics. Halloween is one of Jason's favorite holidays that began with he and his father carving a pumpkin together every year, no matter what corner of the world they were in.

Jason will be sorely missed, especially by Kelly and the children, but also by the enumerable relatives, friends, co-workers and others whose lives he touched, who will all keep him with us through anecdotes and stories about this precious man.

Visitation will be at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home from 5 PM to 9 PM Friday, October 20, 2017. A Celebration of Jason's Life will be held in the Chapel of Angels also at Forest Park Lawndale on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2 PM followed by Jason's interment in the cemetery there. Forest Park Lawndale is located at 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. 713-928-5141.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Jason's name to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. Kelly and the entire family wish to extend our sincere thanks to the incredible team of professionals at MD Anderson for their extensive medical efforts, tender care, understanding and compassion. All that they did gave the family confidence that we were doing all we could to give Jason a different outcome.
