Robert Edward Donovan, 89, of Morganton passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 2, 1929. Robert was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Robert was a very intelligent man and graduated from M.I.T. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge and American Legion, and he had a wonderful sense of humor.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Robert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara King Donovan of the home; daughters, Donna Donovan Baker (Walter), Roberta Donovan Betts (Kevin), Karen Donovan Kelley (Michael), and Kim Donovan Burnette (Allen), fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; three nieces; a nephew; and a host of extended family.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, Mark Donovan; grandson, Jason Betts; and son-in-law, Allen Burnette.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at Bethel United Methodist Church. Military Honors will be provided by the US Air Force and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
