REIDSVILLE - Rev. Daniel Webster Jones, Jr. 89, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Grace Fellowship Church with Dr. John Marks officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held following the service. There will be a private burial Riverside Memorial Park in Norfolk, VA. Rev. Jones was born in Portlock, Norfolk County, VA [now Chesapeake] to the late Daniel Webster Jones, Sr. and Evelyn O'Neil Jones. He attended William and Mary College, Elon College and obtained his Master of Divinity at Duke University. He faithfully served as Pastor of First Congregational Christian Church for many years until his retirement and Chaplin of various hospitals in the area. As noted in the local newspaper he was known as "Reidsville's Pastor" always available to anyone who needed him. Even in retirement, he played the piano regularly in the nursing homes. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine White Jones and twin brothers, Joseph Leon Jones and William Steven Jones. He is survived by his children, Michael Allen Jones and wife, Debra and Colette Leigh Jones Cannon and husband, Roger; his grandchildren, Daniel Allen Tippett, Alexandra Gould and husband, James and D.E. McLeod Jones; two step- grandchildren, Skyland and Daniel Dale Cannon and great grandchild, Finely Owen Gould. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Fellowship Church Children's Park Ministry, 1863 South Park Dr., Reidsville, NC 27320.
