Lena was the daughter of Curtis Thorpe and Susie Mae Hodges Thorpe. She was educated in the Houston County School System. She was employed as a cook with the Warner Robins Day Care Center. She later was retired from employment on Robins Air Force Base and the Houston County Board of Education. She was a faithful member of the Houston Mt Zion Baptist Church in Bonaire, Georgia. She enjoyed attending Church, playing Bingo with neighbors, sewing, cooking and Christmas, which was her favorite holiday.
She was married to Henry Ray on June 15, 1968. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Augustus Thorpe, Hawaii Thorpe and Robert Thorpe and 2 sisters; Bertha Thorpe and Minnie Jean Eberhard, 1 daughter; Theresa A. Clarington and 2 sons; Timothy Jones and Rufus Jones Jr and 1 grandson, Joshua Jones.
Survivors:
3 Daughters: Susan T. Burnette(Taft), Sabrina Ray Riley(Darrell) and Cleo D. Tucker(Tracy).
1 Son: Bobby L. Jones(Christine).
13 Grandchildren: Angela, Cal, Antwon, Tequila, Shaterri, LaMorris, Victoria, Ronshod, Briana, Quoshia, Keshawyne, JeQues and Jarrah.
13 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 1PM in the Sanctuary of Houston Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bonaire, Georgia with Rev Daryl K. Moore officiating.
