Zola Turner, 87, of Shirley, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, Aug. 5, 2019.
She was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Overton County, Tennessee, the daughter of Albert and Ida Wright.
Zola loved the Lord and her family. She taught us how to walk with God and live a Christian life. She is a member of the Righteous Oaks Baptist Church.
She is survived by three children, Brenda Hart of Shirley, Teressa Meredith of Lapel, and Timothy Jones of New Castle; four grandchildren, Summer (David) Bowling of Fortville, Daniel (Jami) Hart of Morristown, Jacob (Jessica) Meredith of Elwood and Tiffany (Jeff) Smith of Tennessee; two stepdaughters, Corey Sherman-Tennessee and Paula (Darrick)Turner Crews of Indianapolis; three stepgrandchildren, Darrien (Cheyenne) Turner of North Carolina, Kevin (Stacey) Sherman of Tennessee and Curtis (Amanda) Sherman-Tennessee; several great- and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Catherine Lackey and Deborah (Jack) Tompkins; one brother, Larry (Deanna) Wright of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and extended family member, John Hart.
Zola was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Kenneth Jones; two husbands, Gene Jones and Paul Turner; three sisters, Carmel, Amy and Jeanie; two brothers, Albert Jr. and Elbert (Boy) Wright.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to Pastor Steve and Lorinda Rayburn for all their help, support and love, all the cards and visits from her church family and friends throughout this difficult time, and to her hospice nurses, Becky and Christy.
Services will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Steve Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
