Maude H. Sowerby, 88, County Route 13, former resident of Watertown and a retired nurse, died Thursday evening in the Mercy Center for Health Services, Watertown, where she had been a patient since July 1992.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Ferry officiating. Burial will be in North Boylston Cemetery.

A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Jeanne) Sauls, Boylston; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arnold Pratt, Orlando, Fla., Lloyd Pratt, Sacramento, Calif., and Roger Pratt, Centerville, Ohio; two sisters, Leona Reed, Deltona, Fla., and Lillian Fox, Myrtle Creek, Ore., and nieces and nephews.

She was born Sept. 9, 1904, in Smithville, a daughter of Lester and Lillie Kellar Pratt. She studied nursing at Melrose Sanitarium and Hospital, Melrose, Mass.

She married Reginald Sowerby. The couple lived in Watertown for 25 years. They were employed by Trinity Episcopal Church in Watertown for many years before retiring to Florida. Mrs. Sowerby was also a registered nurse in the Watertown and Pulaski areas. She later did private duty nursing in Florida.

Mr. Sowerby, retired sexton at Trinity Episcopal Church, died in 1981 in Florida. Following his death Mrs. Sowerby returned to the Pulaski and Boylston areas.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Watertown.
