Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (exactly 28 years to the day and date), her brother Douglas Harmon and her daughter-in-law Sharon Hanson. She is survived by her five children; Brent Hanson (Vicky), Celia Hanson, Bill Hanson, Jan Pawelek (Jeff) and Eric Hanson. Janice and Frank were nicknamed Tumi and Dude as they became grandparents to Taylor Haley (Reese), Holly Fussell (Chris), Harmon Hanson, Jake Pawelek (Brittany) and Jenna Hineman (Kendall), along with nine great-grandchildren; Cassie, Celia, Maxine and Lulu Haley, Lanier and Thorpe Fussell, Rivers Pawelek and Ella Kate and Harlow Hineman. She’s also survived by her siblings, Rosamond Buckler and Patrick Harmon.
Janice was known for her fierce love of family. She loved being close to both her parents and Frank’s mother and extended family as she began raising her family of five in East Point, GA. Also close by in the early years, were Rosamond and Al Buckler and their four kids. Rosamond and Janice were inseparable sisters and swapped out babysitting, sewing, holidays and many summer vacations in St Simons Island, GA. Janice was the epitome of a stay-at-home mom who was busy in the home but found time to volunteer at school, church, Little League and many other activities. It was hard for Janice when Shell Oil transferred the family to New Orleans in 1965 but it helped broaden her world as the family then went on to Plantation, FL, back to the Atlanta area and finally to Spring, TX. They settled in the Northampton community in Spring and formed long-lasting friendships in this area. Janice joined in many activities including the Northampton tennis team, local election volunteering, Garden Club and Artist and Handcrafters and stayed active in the community.
Janice loved her home and her special place on the screened porch, and she wanted to finish her life there. We were able to make this happen with some amazing, loving caregivers and friends: Amanda Brown, Melissa Frey, Ana Avila, Grete Torvbraten and Michelle Corcoran.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 5-7pm at Klein Funeral Home-Champions at 16131 Champion Forest Dr 77379. We will celebrate Janice’s life on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10am at the Klein Funeral Home Chapel. For burial services, we will meet at 12 noon in the lobby of Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Freeway 77060 and proceed to the graveside.
