Thomas J. Triplett, the son of James and Eugene and Inez Burdeen Triplett, was born June 16, 1934 in Primghar, Iowa.

His childhood years were spent in rural Sutherland, where he attended Waterman #1 Country School and finished his education at Sutherland Consolidated High School.

After his schooling, Tom married Arlene Giese and to this union were born four children:

He entered the military and served with the military at Ft. Smith, Arkansas and later to Korea, where he served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1954.

After his discharge, they moved back to Sutherland.

Tom began his career in farming in 1955 and continued until his retirement in 2001. He also worked as a Crop Adjuster for Nau from 1998 until his retirement in 2015.

He was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, where he was on the Church council and ushered.

He was also a member of the American Legion, where he was a past commander and was a member of the REC Board.

His greatest love was his family, especially going to all of their activities and spending time with the grandkids and great grandkids. He also loved fishing, dancing, his country, playing cards, sports and socializing.

Tom passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the age of 85.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Gertrude; a son, Blaine and a daughter-in-law, Joni.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland. A Military Flag Presentation will conducted by American Legion Post #152 of Sutherland following the services at the church. OFFICIATING Pastor LeRoy Riemer
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 7th with the family present from 5 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland. Burial will be at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland, Iowa privately prior to the services.
