Bertha “Bert” Ellen Rose Jones, servant of God, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many passed from the arms of her family to the arms of her Lord on Friday, August 2, 2019. Bert was a true example of a Christian with a servant’s heart. She served God by serving others through innumerable acts of service and kindness. We can all honor her legacy by giving of ourselves to others each day.

Bert was born on December 27, 1944, to the late Raymond and Hettie Rose in Ivydale, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Smith and Alice Brannon.

Her legacy will live on through her children, Pam (Frank) Tucker of Red House , and Robert of St. Albans, father of her children, Larry Jones, and grandchildren, Mason, Jake, and Zaiah, all of Red House . Bert’s laughter will live on through her sisters Elvira Holcomb of Millersburg, OH, Mildred Bullard of Charleston and Ona Gray of Maysel, WV. Bert’s commitment to hard work will live on through her brothers, Frank of Leroy, WV, George of Ovapa, WV, and Garland of Cool Ridge, WV. Bert’s legacy will also carry on through her nieces and nephews, friends from George Washington Elementary where she worked, and Shiloah Church of Red House.

Bert’s friends are as vast as the sea, and her kindness and dedication has made an immeasurable difference in their lives.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday August 10th 2019 at Raynes Funeral Home (Eleanor Chapel) with Pastor John Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Salisbury Cemetery, Ivydale. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
