James R. Pickens, 68 of Euclid, Ohio and formerly of East Liverpool passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019, at Salem West Health Care Center in Salem after recently being diagnosed with cancer.
Born in Salem on November 13, 1950, he was a son of the late William H. and Marion L. Kelton Pickens.
Jim retired on August 31, 2006, as a Class II water plant operator for the City of Cleveland Dept. of Public Works. A Methodist by faith, Jim was a graduate of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1969, and a graduate of the Westside Institute of Technology. He proudly served his county in the combat infantry Division of the US Army in Cambodia and Vietnam.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one brother, David Pickens and one sister, Roberta Pickens.
He leaves one brother Charles Pickens and his wife Virginia of Lisbon; one sister, Julie Freeman and her husband, William Sr. of Beaver; one nephew, William Freeman Jr. of Pittsburgh; and one niece, Ann Meidinger of Baden, PA.
A private family memorial service is being planned for a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, WV
