Sidney Truman Howard 'Papa'

Sidney Truman Howard “Papa”, age 84, of Pearland, Texas, passed away August 2, 2019.
He was born in Jakin, Georgia on August 31, 1934 to Alton P. Howard and Robbie T. Barfield.
He was married to Florence Pauline Howard “Polly” for 38 years before her passing and was with his devoted life partner Barbara Dixon “Grandma” for 26 years.
He joined the US Army at the age of 17 with tours in Germany, Vietnam, Okinawa and several domestic locations and retired a Sargent Major after 27 years of service. He then had a career at Kelsey Seybold, NASA for 17 years.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and had a passion for woodworking and gardening. His wooden toys are particularly treasured. But most of all he loved visits from his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Polly, his son Tom Howard, and his grandson Hunter Klatt.
He is survived by his life partner Barbara; children; Teddy, Lori, and Robert; daughters-in-law, Jerri and Deanna; son-in-law Jim; grandchildren, Justin, Sydney, Thomas, Morgan, Canyon, Aspen, Savannah, Mathew, and Avery; great-grandchildren Abigail, Safari, Chrysanthemum, and Texas.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598.
A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with interment and reception to follow
