MORRISDALE - Funeral services will be held at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport, at 11 a.m. tomorrow for Violet M. Bloom, 94, of Morrisdale, who died Saturday, October 26, 2002, at 3:47 a.m. at her residence.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services tomorrow at the church.
The Rev. H. Aden Wertz will officiate. Interment will be at Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville RD.
Grange services will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born July 17, 1908, in Knox Township, she was a daughter of Warren G. and Mertie (Walker) Rowles.
Mrs. Bloom retired from the General Cigar Co., Philipsburg.
Mrs. Bloom was a member of the Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport. She had been a volunteer for 10 years for the Philipsburg State General Hospital. She was a lifetime member of the Centre Hill Grange, Post 885; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; a Gold Star Mother; and a member of the Chester Hill Mothers' Club.
On Oct. 8, 1927, she wed Gard M. Bloom, who died Dec. 14. 1973.
She is survived by a daughter, Wilma E. (Tibbens) Sunderland of Morrisdale, with whom Mrs. Bloom resided; a son Ray "Jim" Rowles and his wife, Marion, of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; a stepson, Clark O. Bloom of Philipsburg; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bloom was the last of her generation. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Darl R. Bloom, who was killed serving his country, and infant daughter; a stepson, Carl Bloom; several great-grandchildren, five sisters; and two brothers.
