He was with the pack train and at the hilltop fight during the Battle of the Little Bighorn on June 25 - 26, 1876.

Most likely buried at Calvary Cemetery along with his sister Margaret (Carmody) Bruckhof, who died February 21, 1944 and her husband Louis Bruckhof, who died June 16, 1928. Both are buried at Calvary Cemetery.
