Mark L. Schneider, age 83, of New Holstein, formerly of St. Anna, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Homestead Care Center in New Holstein.

Mark was born September 24, 1930, in Charlesburg to the late Joseph B. Sr. & Theresa (Boehnlein) Schneider. He attended school at St. Charles Catholic School in Charlesburg.

On October 10, 1953, he married Rita Schmitz at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. He farmed in the Town of New Holstein near St. Anna for 36 years, drove school bus for the New Holstein School District for 20 years, and was a substitute rural mail carrier for many years. After retiring from farming in 1992, he worked part time at A.A. Laun-Kiel Building Supply for 10 years.

Mark was a retired member of the St. Anna Fire Dept. where he served for 30 years. He was a member of St. Anna Catholic Church where he was very active in the church and the school. He served on the cemetery committee and the CPES board.

Survivors include his wife, Rita, of New Holstein; his seven children, Linda (Dick) Schoenborn of St. Anna, Carol (Bill) Fuhrmann of St. Joe, Marilyn Schneider (H. Wayne Phillips) of Great Falls, MT, Mary Jo (Dan) Keller of Hillsboro, Alice (Bryan) Johannes of Eldorado, Matthew Schneider of Sheboygan, and Amy (Karl) Harpstead of Plymouth; 24 grandchildren, Nicole (Charles) Schoenborn-Hoffmann, Sara Schoenborn, Michelle (Michael) Brantmeier, Corey Fuhrmann, Kevin (Chris) Fuhrmann, Michael (Amy) Fuhrmann, Amy Fuhrmann, Rob (Jamie) Phillips, Kelly Phillips, Mark, Elizabeth, Josiah, Peter, and Anna Keller, Danielle, Emma, and Molly Johannes, Jennifer Schneider (fiancé, Jared Borgwardt), Rachel and Mark Schneider, Eleanore, Katharine, Nicolaus, and Benjamin Harpstead; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his sister, Loretta Schommer of Cedarburg; his brother, James (Yvonne) Schneider of Kiel; his brothers-in-law, Delmar Burg of New Holstein, and James (Jean) Schmitz of Fond du Lac; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph B. Sr. & Theresa Schneider; his sisters, Marie (Martin) Woelfel, Evelyn (Vince) Hanke, Florence Schneider, and two infant sisters; his brothers, Luke (Nellie) Schneider and Joseph Schneider Jr.; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Edgar & Marie Schmitz; his brother-in-law, Germann Schommer; and his sister-in-law, Donna Burg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at St. Anna Catholic Church N188 School Street New Holstein, WI 53061 "St. Anna". Rev. Harold Berryman and Rev. Ron Smith OFM Cap will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Ave New Holstein, WI on Friday, November 1st from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM when brief rites will be held.

A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Friday evening at 8:00 PM.

A memorial fund will be established in his name.
