William Henry Harrison Belt, was named for President William Henry Harrison. He married Nancy Caroline Cornwell on September 2, 1872, in Clark County, Illinois. William enlisted in the Civil War while living in Licking County, OH. He was in company A of the 10th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. He suffered a gun shot wound to the leg that ended in amputation. After the war he lived in Clark County, IL, where he met Nancy and started a "shoemaker's" shop located in the town of Melrose. I visited the Medsker Cemetery in October 2008, and searched for his grave site. However, since he was buried in an unmarked grave and there was no sexton or plot map in Medsker Cemetery, I could not find and photo his site.
